Matthias Vancutsem is a Belgian classical guitarist. He has received awards in Belgium, the Netherlands and Spain, where he has also given concerts, including the United States. He studied at the LUCA School of Arts in Leuven, Belgium and at the Univeristy of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, USA. His teachers include Antoon Vandeborght, Raphaella Smits and Rene Izquierdo. Furthermore he has been influenced by lessons and contact with Alvaro Pierri, Leo Brouwer, Marcin Dylla and Lorenzo Micheli. Matthias plays a cedar guitar built by Dennis Tolz.
